EPA Ruling"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5>\u00a0<\/h5>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SBN is disheartened by the US Supreme Court\u2019s ruling in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/22pdf\/21-454_4g15.pdf\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sackett v. EPA<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In late May, the Supreme Court decided in favor of extreme demands of big polluters by excluding tens of millions of acres of wetlands from the Clean Water Act\u2019s oversight. This ruling significantly restricts the EPA\u2019s ability to issue effective water standards, harming our environment, our communities, and our businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our businesses depend on clean water to operate and serve our communities. They should not have to choose between the health of our communities and environment or the health of our economy. This ruling allows polluters to cut corners and evade common-sense protections, exporting their waste onto downstream businesses and communities<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d said <\/span><a href=\"m&#97;&#x69;&#x6c;&#x74;o&#58;&#100;&#x65;&#x76;i&#64;&#115;&#x62;&#x6e;ph&#105;&#x6c;&#x61;&#x64;e&#108;&#x70;&#x68;&#x69;a&#46;&#111;&#x72;&#x67;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-rich-links=\"{&quot;per_n&quot;:&quot;Devi Ramkissoon&quot;,&quot;per_e&quot;:&quot;&#x64;e&#x76;&#105;&#64;&#x73;&#98;&#x6e;&#x70;h&#x69;&#108;a&#x64;&#101;&#x6c;&#112;h&#x69;&#97;&#46;&#x6f;&#114;&#x67;&quot;,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;person&quot;}\">Devi Ramkissoon<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Executive Director of SBN.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our businesses understand the negative ripple effect of this decision. 80% of small business owners in the US support strong federal protections for our waters.
